Anthony, a nurse practitioner, and Emily, a physician assistant, were an absolute delight to work with. Fans of John Mayer and Phish, their friends have nicknamed them “Crunchy” because they “recycle and eat granola.” In addition to being awesome and liking camping (one of our very favorite things as well), Anthony and Emily enjoy skiing, running, and going up north together. In fact, they got engaged on an island on Lake Michigan during one of their up north excursions. We are so excited about these pics and can’t wait to shoot their wedding this coming June. 2011 Year-in-Review

Since a picture is worth a thousand words we decided to sum 2011 up with some of our favorite pics of the year, professional and personal. In addition to shooting our usual portion of weddings and portraits, we moved into our first house, got our first dog, and had our first baby. It was one.crazy.year…filled with amazing clients, gorgeous imagery, and many blessings. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU to all who have chosen us and continue to choose us to document your most precious events, moments, and people. Your lives inspire us. Looking forward to more beauty and life in 2012!

Amy & Mike

You know you’re off to a good start when, right from the initial inquiry, a person comments on your musical preferences. Amy and Mike are an absolutely delightful couple and, in our opinion, have fantastic taste in music. Residing in the lovely Ann Arbor, Mike is a scientist and a rock star. A musician of many talents, he’s a member of the bluegrass/country/swing/gypsy/eastern group, Orpheum Bell. And Amy is a super-gorgeous, soft-spoken, kind-hearted law student at MSU. Together they have an adorable English Bulldog named Raiza and I was very sad they didn’t bring her to the shoot! Oh well. There’s always the wedding! In addition to being big fans of Mike’s band, they love M.Ward (score!), Sufjan Stevens (double-score!) and Mason Jennings (triple-score!) They also enjoy ice-cream, going for walks, and…Scrabble. Amy and Mike: We are so glad to be working with you and we cannot wait for your barn wedding in May! Caroline & Adam

Hilarious, self-deprecating, adorable, match-made-in-heaven Caroline and Adam. This session was a riot to shoot not only because Caroline and Adam are very dear friends to us, but because they are absolutely hilarious to be around. For starters, there’s Caroline. Long, lean, ridiculously goofy Caroline. She has a way of spontaneously doing and saying the most comical things that takes whoever is around her by surprise, causing them to stop what they’re doing and laugh out loud. She’s beautiful, charming, and is so much fun we can hardly stand it. Then there’s Adam. Laid-back, contemplative, life-loving Adam who has a serious case of wanderlust, a deep love for the outdoors, Detroit and gospel music. Together, they make me smile. So very much. They balance each other out perfectly and are like two parts to a whole. They are a truly amazing couple and we are so honored to be their friends and to document their relationship through photographs. We’d also like to give a shout out once again to the very talented Patricia Oltean of PS Cosmetics for her perfectly skilled make-up artistry. Julie & Ryan

It’s always fun to hang out in the city with awesome folks like Julie and Ryan. Easy going and fun loving, Julie, a marketing specialist and Ryan, an EMT, are a perfect match for each other. Their session was on one of those nights where we thought it was going to rain, but then it cleared up into a warm, dewy summer evening. Highlights include the dramatic clouds in the sky, Ryan and Julie’s childlike playfulness, and of course, the water fight at the end. Julie and Ryan: You guys are super fun! We loved hanging out with you in the D and got so many great images. We can’t wait to shoot your wedding this fall! Becky & Jim

It was a glowy, dewy summer evening in the woods and meadow for Becky and Jim’s engagement session. Lovers of nature, road trips, and new adventures, Becky, a Physical Therapist Assistant and Jim, a Computer Programmer, are looking forward to their 11/11/11 wedding date! We had so much fun hanging out with them in the dazzlingly beautiful forest of Stony Creek Metro Park. Some of our favorite things about these photographs is the way the sunlight is streaming through the trees or surrounding them in a halo of light in the field. Mother Nature always has something lovely up her sleeve and these types of settings are so fulfilling to shoot in. Becky and Jim: We are in love with your photos!! We can’t wait for you to see them. Kim & Troy

In the middle of May’s two straight weeks of rain, we found the one sunny evening to photograph Kim and Troy for their engagement session. Kim, a registered nurse, and Troy a Nexteer at GM, are both passionate about working out and weight lifting. Although he may look fierce on the outside, Troy is really a tenderhearted gentle giant. Both are social creatures with a good sense of humor, which is great when you’re working with us! Kim and Troy: It was so much fun hanging out with you for your engagement session! You are a great couple whose love for each other is evident and sweet. We are so looking forward to your October wedding this year! In the meantime, enjoy your engagement session images! Sarah & Bob

It was a perfectly warm, sunny day when we photographed Sarah and Bob for their engagement session. Sarah, a registered nurse at Beaumont and Bob, a sales manager in the steel industry, are a quiet and easy-going couple. With a classic sense of style, this shoot had a bit of Great Gatsby feel to it. We loved how the sun illuminated Sarah’s golden locks and wispy dress, giving the photos a romantic, vintage feel. Lovers of nature, Sarah and Bob’s soon-to-be wedding will take place at a gorgeous estate surrounded by trees and a river…but more on that in a later post! Sarah and Bob: we had a wonderful, relaxing time photographing you! We absolutely love how these images came out and we cannot wait for your unique wedding next month! Ryan & Kim

Ryan and Kim are an absolutely delightful couple. We recently had the pleasure of working with them for their engagement session and look forward to doing so again next month at their wedding. Both on the sales team at Google where they met, Ryan and Kim live in downtown Birmingham, are really fun to be around and have a love for triathlons and other outdoorsy ventures. There are so many things we love about this session. One being Kim’s simple, straight-forward Jackie O sense of style and beauty (love her in a red dress!) We also love how truly in love these two are and that really does come across through these images. It was a difficult task to narrow it down to just a few favorites for the blog, but we managed. Ryan and Kim: We are so glad to be working with you during this incredible time of your lives! Looking forward to your Big Day next month but in the meantime, enjoy your gorgeous engagement photos!! Nikki & Rob

Nikki and Rob are an awesome couple who we had the pleasure of photographing this past fall. Nikki, pursing an accounting degree, and Rob, landscape and carpentry professional, are huge football fans…and not for just any football team. They are die-hard Lions fans (bless their hearts) so much so that they named their adorable puppy “Roary.” How cute is that? Incredibly easy-going and laid back, they love Will Ferrell movies, game nights with friends and hanging out at pubs. We had a great time with them at Stony Creek Metro Park on a warm, overcast fall day. We love the tone that the weather set for that day, creating a romantic and surreal type of atmosphere. Nikki and Rob: You guys were so great to work with! We love your engagement pics and are so excited to share them with you. We wish you a very happy, healthy and blessed future!
