2011 Year-in-Review

Since a picture is worth a thousand words we decided to sum 2011 up with some of our favorite pics of the year, professional and personal. In addition to shooting our usual portion of weddings and portraits, we moved into our first house, got our first dog, and had our first baby. It was one.crazy.year…filled with amazing clients, gorgeous imagery, and many blessings. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU to all who have chosen us and continue to choose us to document your most precious events, moments, and people. Your lives inspire us. Looking forward to more beauty and life in 2012!

Addyson Age 2

Adorable, animated Addyson, who you may remember from her 1 year session last summer, is now age 2. I love Addyson because even though she’s a total girlie girl who doesn’t like to get her pretty little feet dirty, she does like to get crazy and party down. (As evidenced in her mad-hatter-Flintstones-tea-party-dance-off photos at the end.) This kid cracks me up! It was a riot shooting at Stony Creek Metro Park with the Russos again. This session had a little bit of everything: a classic, nautical summer feel, quiet family moments, and a crazy-dancing-toddler as the sun was setting. John and Tanya: Thanks once again for letting us into your world for a few hours. Addyson is growing up to be such a lovely child, it’s so exciting to watch her as she becomes her own little person. We love these photos and hope that you will too!! Enjoy!!

The Cyrkiel Family

Meet the Cyrkiels: Alison, Aaron, the adorable little Aliana (complete with kissable dimples) and their sweet n’ scruffy little pup. They are a kind, fun-loving and laid-back family who I loved spending time with on a super-warm spring day. Photographed at Van Hoosen Farms in Rochester, everything was in full bloom and in vivid color, not to mention the cherry blossom tree that I couldn’t get enough of! Little Aliana is a riot: giggling, exploring, eating flowers…you know, the usual activities for a one and a half year-old. Cyrkiels: Thank you so much for inviting me to photograph your lovely family! It has been so nice getting to know you and your little one! The Marshall Family

Meet Carianne and her family of men. Photographed in Fenton on a warm, spring day, it was a pleasure hanging out with them! Boys will be boys, so as you can imagine, there was a lot of sarcasm and banter happening, but it made me laugh and made for some great moments to capture. I also couldn’t resist encouraging Carianne to get dolled up a bit for the first half of the shoot, being that she’s absolutely gorgeous! It’s always fun to photograph a glamor girl in the midst of a bunch of guys. So that’s exactly what we did. Carianne and men: thanks so much for a great shoot and for being so much fun to work with! The West Family

Meet the West family: Jeff, Ashley and their daughters Alayna and Adelynn. A beautiful bunch of people inside and out, it was lovely photographing them at their home on a warm, spring day. A lover of life and her family, Ashley is passionate about having real moments captured in photographs. With two vivacious and gorgeous little girls, that wasn’t hard to do! Some of our favorite things about this session are the fun, J-Crew-ish outfits everyone wore, Alayna’s naturally stunning curls, Adelynn’s big, curious brown eyes, and the love that Ashley and Jeff have for one another. West family: Thank you so much for inviting us to step into your world for a few hours. It was a riot photographing you all and it will be fun to watch your family grow over the years! The Slimak Family

It’s amazing how fast time flies. It seems like just yesterday that we photographed Emily, Jesse and their two beautiful girls Aurea and Easter for their first family portrait, but it was actually two years ago! It’s crazy to see how our work has grown along with their girls over these past few years. What we love most about photographing these two darling daughters is that they possess a sage-like quality…a quiet introspection that is uncommon among children so young. You can see it in their eyes as they quietly observe and take it all in. That, and they are absolutely, squeezably adorable. Looking at the images of these two little ones really do fill us with joy and peace. It must be a part of their character that comes across through the photographs. Emily and Jesse: Thanks so much for having us photograph your family again. We truly love seeing you and your girls, and it was a great time hanging out with you all during the shoot! Nina & Alexa

It is always so great to photograph the gorgeous Nina and Alexa. It has been such a blessing to see them grow over the past few years! It’s amazing that 3 years have gone by already since we first photographed Nina at 3 months old! She’s quickly growing from toddler to childhood with little sister Alexa following along. Both girls are absolutely beautiful, just like their parents. They are also full of laughter, goofiness, and love! Our favorite part about this session is the chaos…Real-life, family chaos that we were happy to beautifully capture. Moments with your young children are fleeting and before you know it, Nina and Alexa will be off to college, so catching little moments like the ones below are so important. This is life and it is beautiful. So, without further ado, enjoy a few of the highlights from the session!

Pomante Family Portraits

It was so great hanging out with the fun-loving Pomante family on a beautiful fall day! Two grown daughters and their husbands, three little boys and a new baby on the way made the session a big ball of chaos and laughs. What we really enjoyed about this session was the love that we felt permeating throughout the family, from the grandparents all the way down to the little guys. It was obvious that everyone enjoys one another and has an absolute riot together! Amy, thank you so much for contacting us! It was such a joy to meet your family and to photograph everyone at your parents’ gorgeous Washington Township home. We love these photos and are so excited to present them to all of you! Luca: 3 Month Portraits

Meet baby Luca. He’s the adorable, bright eyed, newly adopted baby boy to parents Rose and Drew. Together, the three of them make an awesome and fun-loving family. On a dewy, spring evening, we had a riot hanging out with them in the backyard of their gorgeous Bloomfield Hills home. Rose is second generation Italian American, so it was really cool to have her mother on the shoot, singing Italian baby songs to Luca. They also have an adorable dog who is so sweet and playful! It’s our guess that she thinks Luca is her pup because she kept licking him at any chance she could get…hilarious!! Rose and Drew: It was such a pleasure to meet you and to photograph your beautiful son! We hope to have many more opportunities to photograph him throughout the years! The Conroys

This is the Conroy family. As you can see, they are super cool and tons of fun! When Bonnie called to schedule her session, she said she has two adult sons and that the family was looking for photos that are edgy and cool. We were happy to oblige. Bonnie and Dan own R & A Insurance Services, where they do property and casualty, as well as auto insurance. We highly recommend their services! Their two sons, Rick and Dennis, are both super photogenic and are really into music. We were even able to snap a few shots with Rick and his lovely and equally very photogenic girlfriend, Kelsey, as shown below. Like I said, this family has a great sense of humor and kept us laughing most of the session. Here’s a fun fact: Apparently, Dan wears khaki pants and a black shirt, literally, every day. So the family decided to bring their “Dan clothes” and do some fun shots dressed like him (see the last image).
